Can I just say Black Girl Magic!
Let’s talk about the 2nd part of my Atlanta weekend and you can read about part 1 here. If you are not familiar with Myliek Teele you must be under a rock. She is full of inspiration and that is the beauty I like in her. I listen to her podcasts, so attending this live episode was a no brainer. Not to mention it was time for a mini getaway. Can you believe, I almost did not get my hands on a ticket. The show sold out within minutes. Yes, you heard right…MINUTES!!! I was all up in my feelings for missing out. All up in them! Then it happened. Myliek announced a second matinée show for Sunday, August 13. Now, we will insert stalker mode. I was on it. Ticket sale reminders everywhere!!! Some women in the Myliek Facebook group even tagged me in some reminders. My hotel and scheduled time off from work was already set from the initial announcement. I was just waiting to get my hands on the live podcast tickets before booking my flight. I cannot go on without mentioning Myliek is the creator of curlBOX.
Since I was stocking the tickets, I did not miss out. I snatch the tickets up before it was sold out again. Yes, two sold out shows. Now the Black Girl Magic did not stop with Myliek Teele. The special live podcast guest was Karleen Roy! Yes, the one and only. I love hearing about how someone started into their career or made moves on Myliek’s podcast. One thing I find the answers have in common is determination, knowing your value, work, hustle, and grind. Karleen’s story was not an exception. She even announced her Life of Karleen website at the end of the podcast.
Karleen Roy Gems

2. Get moving! Health is wealth!
3. Take some time for you!
Keep moving forward-period!
One of my favorite Myliek quotes from the podcast “Mentorship does not always feel good.” #mytaughtyou
It was nice to be around many like-minded people in one room. And the melanin in the room was a plus. I hope this is a start of an annual event.
My stay in Atlanta was great. I can not get over the traffic but thank goodness for Lyft. I stayed at Atlanta Marriott Suites-Midtown. Awesome stay at this hotel. The staff was very welcoming and quick to help. My hotel suite was amazing. Although there was construction in the area and off a busy street it did not disrupt my stay. There were ear plugs on the nightstand if needed. That was very considerate. I wanted to get to the Atlanta Botanical Garden. But I did not realize the place was closed on Monday. So, I ended up at Ponce City Marketto end my Atlanta trip.
