Back-To-School is right around the corner. The Texas heat could be a little unbearable during July. If your child is entering middle school or high school, there are some things you can do to get ahead of the game. You want to allow yourself time and avoid the rush. These tips helped me when my kids were in high-school. If you child is entering college, click here for some tips.
Purge that Closet
Assess the items in your closet. Before adding the same items to your wardrobe, inspect what is already in your possession. This is a money saver. Additionally, you do not want to be stuck buying something you already own. Have a game plan for the lovely tax-free weekend. Especially, if you are a fan of this weekend. The crowds are too large and it is too hot. I rather shop online and look for deals throughout the year. Not to mention receiving money back. Some people seem to think that everything has to be purchased on a big shopping haul. Why put that stress on yourself? Practice purging your closets and making a list of items to add to the current wardrobe. This list will allow you to search for the deals. I know you like to keep money in their pockets.
Physical
If you have a kid in sports, you know about the need of a physical. If you are new to this, this might be news to you. Oh, wait a minute… your child forgot to tell you. I remember being in that situation. So, I made a plan to stay ahead of it. A school physical is annual, so get in the habit of scheduling it. Electronic paperwork is an option in many school districts. Please take advantage of this option. So, the only thing you may need to turn in is the physical form and a check. Again, beat the rush! You can not get time back.
Spirit Wear
If you have middle or high school kids, don’t forget about the spirit wear. How many school spirit shirts do you buy every year? Calculate the cost or better yet give your child a budget. We all love to have that school spirit. A cool thing to do is use them to make a blanket or something their senior year. Oh, you will have a ton by then.
Tip-If you are not into the blanket thing, cotton t-shirts are good to use as a towel for your hair.

Get Started
Guess what!!! Back to school items are out now. You know all those different color folders your child need but you are only able to find 3 out of 5. Or better yet, prongs with pockets. Be an early bird so you can sit back and relax. Some school offer the supplies and delivering them to your child’s classroom. Think about the convenience fee of this being last-minute and no time to shop around. It is possible you might come out cheaper buying each item yourself.
