I am going into this New Year with a new mindset on my diet. Making the change now to GET YOUR DIET TOGETHER GIRL!!! This is what I am saying daily. I want to improve my food choices. It is possible I will move towards a vegetarian lifestyle in the future.
I know this would not be an easy thing to jump into. There is no way you can go…cold turkey. I am looking for ways to ease into this change. So, cutting certain food from my diet is a start. I do not eat pork, so I started with cutting the beef. That was an easy start. Now, the chicken and turkey, oh boy. I know I do not have to have this for every meal. The problem is I have an allergy to fish. Yeah, I know I might be missing out on a good thing. Yet, you can not miss something you never had. Winning!!!

New Vegetables
As a picky eater, I started to ease into some food items I have never liked. I always have to customize my food. Taking this out adding this and if it wasn’t an option, man it was a struggle to order. I was not happy when the waiter tell me the unwanted ingredient is pre-mixed in. The wheels are turning people. My food palette is changing and I am getting it together.
Here a couple of items I recently added to my food taste buds.
-
Tomatoes
-
Black Olives
-
Asparagus
-
Squash
-
Zucchini
I can tolerate onions and bell peppers if they are cut small or chopped in a food processor. Please, no crunchy onion or bell pepper in my mouth. I made a homemade vegetable soup in the slow cooker today. I decided to add the noodles at the last-minute. Two vegetables I added was okra and lima beans. These two could have appeared on the list above. I would not reach for them. I enjoyed the soup with apple juice. The soup was delicious.
Meal Prep
This is a key reason for me. I have to commit to doing this weekly. My number one issue is not knowing what I want to eat. This delays me getting to the store to shop for the ingredients. I ordered these Meal Prep Haven stackable food containers from Amazon. These will help with prepping my meals. Now if I just know what I want to eat on a daily to prepare.
Here is to the journey of making better choices with food and drinks. Although, soda is not a huge issue. I sometimes feel the urge for one. I will opt for sparkling water. Yes, the big water fizz. My favorite is zero calories, zero sugar, and zero carbs. I also need to increase my water intake. I love to flavor my water with fruit. Why not make it a treat, right?
It is a journey and path I want to be on. “Nothing worth having is easy.” I will continue to push forward and put in the work. What are some of your diet struggles?
