I am one person that is happy some good shows appeared on TV. I was able to add to my watch list in 2016. It was a pleasure to see something other than realty staged shows. I do have a time to watch the shade and ratchet type of shows. This is during my shady time. That is what I like to call it. Come on this stuff gets old. Same ole hollering and name calling. I do like the shade of all shade show….Married to Medicine. Yes, the shade is on ten between these women. It is a bit of comedy show for me.
I added these three TV shows to my watch list.
Queen Sugar
I hope you are not sleeping on Queen Sugar. This is a great show produced by Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey. There is no way this show would not be on my watch list. If you have not watched this show, you are missing out. I suggest getting g caught up before the next season on the OWN network. There is a lot happening on Queen Sugar between three siblings and their farm. The Bordelon family is trying to find their way among each. The love is deep but the pain is deeper. Dawn-Lyen Gardner plays Charley, married to a professional basketball player. Her husband has cheated for years and exposed in the media. Nova is journalist played by Rutina Wesley who is fighting for a cause at the forefront today. She is a true activist. The young actor, Kofi Siriboe plays Ralph Angel. He is the youngest of the siblings trying to prove himself to the family. Kofi’s character will hypnotize you with the southern accent. Love it. I have a feeling the tables are going to turn in the next season. So you know the show airs on the OWN Network.

Shades of Blue
A new cop show made it to our TV screen this year. The show is about a cop crew watching their backs among themselves. This is due to the corruption around them. Always ready to have one last score and stuck with cleaning something up. Yes, a dirty cop show. Jennifer Lopez plays Harlee Santos, a single mom and Brooklyn cop. I like the show and was happy to she something other than staged shows. I like cop shows. Shooter and Lethal Weapon are TV series now. We know the story behind these. I still watch them. I thought Harlee was going to get with the FBI agent, but that obsession he has for her is borderline creepy. Shades of Blue airs on NBC and scheduled to return for another season.
The Catch
When I saw the clips of this show I did not think I would watch. You know when it’s a Shondaland show, you don’t want to miss out. I recorded the show and watched it a couple of days later. I was not impressed right away. This TV show grew on me. It took a couple of episodes, though. The main character is Alice Vaughan played by Mireille Enos. This is another show with some twist and turns. Alice is a private investigator with a con man as an ex-fiancé (Benjamin), played by Peter Krause. Who is doing the hunting? Alice and Benjamin each have a set of skills to keep alluding one another. So much drama. I do not expect anything less from Shonda Rhimes. The Catch airs on ABC and scheduled for another season.
What are some shows you added to your watch list this year? Let me know on twitter.
Thanks
